The hard angle connects to the back of the faucet and takes the water supply lines and turns them 90 degrees down so all the water supply lines stay in front of the wall and do not have to go through the wall. It also downsizes the water supply lines to 3/8ths of an inch to use with decorative pipes. It's 3 fittings in one!
